About Us

As Hintonburg's theatre company, we produce live and lively theatre in beloved local gathering places. Past venues include Cube gallery, The Elmdale House Tavern, and The Carleton Tavern. Current and upcoming venues are The Carleton and the Hintonburg Community Centre, where we will perform the first ever play, and, in Fall 2010, inaugurate the black box theatre space.

These pre-existing settings are perfect for our handpicked "non-corporate" plays.

Chamber theatre is a style of theatre production that invites the audience to experience the text of a great play up close. Nuance becomes predominant. Text and performance supersede "tech".

We produce what our audiences demand: low-tech, highly polished entertainment. We pay our way on ticket sales.

Historically, public houses have been a place for entertainment. We cultivate convergences of literature, architecture, history, and community. This is where we play.

Chamber Theatre Hintonburg is Donnie Laflamme and Lisa Zanyk…in collaboration with the various actors and crew whom we hire for any given project. Regular staff support includes Donna Bourgeault and Dave Samojlenko, and Carole Johnson.
